Sugar and sleep: My hubby’s story

Have you ever been awakened in the middle of the night, feeling wide awake and unable to go back to sleep having racing thoughts or feeling agitated and anxious? There is a reason for this. My hubby found out first hand what it’s like to have blood sugar dysregulation in the middle of the night.

This week on my YouTube channel I interviewed my husband while we were at the lake. He tells a story about his “aha moment” regarding sugar metabolism. After all these years, he’s still finding out how his body works and how the food we eat is always at the core of health.

Sugar is addictive and it’s normal to think you cannot get rid of sugar addiction. Just like any drug, at first, when you decrease your sugar intake, it’ll give you undesirable symptoms. However, when you have a good strategy and focus on adding nourishing foods to your diet, your blood sugar dysregulation can become a thing of the past. The consequence will be even moods, great energy, great sleep and even weight loss!

Whenever there is a big sugar load the body over secretes insulin and that leaves you with low blood sugar in the middle of the night. This is especially true for people who love to eat refined carbs during the day. Be sure to watch this video to find out the relationship between sugar intake and sleepless nights.

Hi Sue! I’m so happy to hear from you! Of course I remember you. I hope you’re enjoying your new home in VA. I can see how challenging it must be to have to eliminate so many foods from your diet. To answer your question, the recipes I provide for my readers are designed for the general population. I usually offer a personalized meal plan with recipes for my private clients. You may go on my website and schedule a free 15 minute visit with me so we can discuss how a one on one program with me may benefit you. I look forward to speaking with you!

Hello Monica, I attended your talk at MI Osteostrong w/Brent & I signed up to do your detox but then you delayed the start until after Easter & COVID started plus my Employer retired & I was out of a PT job so I canceled the class.
I’m now living in Henrico, VA where Some of my relatives live.
I saw a NP in Issaquah before I left to figure out what’s causing my chronic hives (years) & she put me on an elimination diet (no soy, gluten, sugar, corn, nuts & dairy) for 2weeks & then reintroduce one food at a time for three days and wait 3 days for any reaction. I reintroduced corn & on 4th day got hives but I told the NP that it may have been a reaction to all the mosquito bites that I’ve been getting on my walks w/my sister.
Dr. put me back on 2 week elimination diet b4 I try nuts next. I’m mainly eating fruits, veggies, eggs & meat (turkey, chicken or fish), hummus, gauacamole or salsa.
Do you have any recipes that I could use that don’t include any of the ones on my list?
My email address is changed to: suepaules@gmail.com
Thanks
